Operating Costs

PRC strives to lower the costs of laser material processing with every improvement we make and every new model we introduce. That goal drives us above all else to reduce consumables, maintenance and spare parts.

2500 Watts for less than $3 / hour:

  • $2.80/Hour: Fraser Steel achieved 49,101 hours for $6,900 in consumable parts.
  • $2.63/Hour:, General Motors achieved 78,055 hours for $7,632 in consumable parts.
    Lasers that last:
  • 609,077 Hours: Blount Canada runs five 2kW lasers for 609,077 combined hours (so far).
  • 303,000 Hours: 3M runs three 2kW lasers for over 303,000 combined hours.

Our relentless efforts to reduce our cost of operation sets our lasers apart from every other CO2 laser available, and helps them easily rival the most frugal solid state laser as well.

PRC = Dramatically Lower Operating Costs:
  • LifeLong Electrodes:
PRC lasers combine all the advantages of both DC & RF lasers
  • No Resonator Rebuilds:
Pyrex glassware + LifeLong electrodes = no periodic rebuilds
  • No Turbine Rebuilds:
Field-replacable bearings with 50,000 MTBF and no rotary seals
  • No RF or DC Vacuum Tubes
Solid State power supplies require no maintenance
  • Glycol Stabilized Coolant
Eliminates galvanic corrosion problems to prevent coolant leaks
  • Laser Grade Gas Not Required
Uses less expensive welding grade gas

PRC conservatively quotes the operating cost of a 2500 Watt laser at $3.95 per hour as follows:

STS 2500 Laser
   Laser Electrical Cost: $2.04/hr
   Chiller Electrical Cost: $1.28/hr
   Lasing Gas Cost: $0.120/hr
   Routine Maintenance Cost: $0.109/hr
   Long Term Maintenance Cost: $0.402/hr
   Total Operating Cost: $3.95/hr
